A Historic Milestone: 15 Years of Sacrifice, Vision, and Transformation

From humble beginnings to powerful growth—The Uhuru Academy’s journey is a testament to resilience, vision, and unwavering commitment to our people. Blessed beyond measure to have impacted countless lives, planting seeds of knowledge, pride, and liberation. This is only the beginning. #UhuruLegacy #BlackExcellence #CommunityPower

This year marks an extraordinary milestone for Uhuru Academy as we celebrate 15 years of relentless dedication to African-centered education. This journey, led by Dr. Baba Amin and Nkoyo Binah Ojuok, has been forged through grassroots organizing, community partnerships, countless hours of grassroots fundraising, profound financial sacrifices, and personal investment that few can imagine. Every step forward has been fueled not by the pursuit of personal wealth, but by a deep, unwavering love and commitment to our people and our heritage—a burning desire to spark an education golden age in the Black community.

The path has been anything but easy, yet the impact speaks volumes. What began as a vision has grown into a movement that extends far beyond our walls. We have influenced and trained programs across the nation, including UASC International in Hopkins, SC; the Prince Circle of Legends Academy in Houston, TX; Roxbury Roots Montessori in Roxbury, Massachusetts; the New Alkebulan STEM Learning Center in Broward County, FL; and the Our Black Fathers Committee in Phoenix, AZ. In 2015, years before the world was forced online, we launched Uhuru Academy Online out of innovation, not necessity, pioneering virtual African-centered education and expanding access to families nationwide. For 10 years, our International Campus has stood as a beacon of what's possible when cultural restoration meets academic rigor. This 15-year anniversary is more than a celebration of time passed—it is a testament to what can be achieved when vision, sacrifice, and love of community converge. This is the work of building legacy, one student, one family, one community at a time.
